During the 2016-17 NBA season the Hornets posted a 36-46 record and placed 11th in the NBA Eastern Conference. The Hornets failed to make the NBA Playoffs. Look for the Hornets to rebound in the 2017-18 NBA season.

Established in 1998, The Charlotte Hornets are an NBA basketball team based in Charlotte, NC and compete in the Eastern Conference Southeast Division against teams like Washington Wizards, Atlanta Hawks, Orlando Magic, and Miami Heat. The team is largely owned by former NBA player Michael Jordan, and the Hornets play their home games at the Spectrum Center in Uptown Charlotte. The Spectrum seats a little over 19,000 basketball fans on a nightly basis. It is also home to the Charlotte Checkers as well as concerts and special events. In 2002, Shinn’s franchise relocated to New Orleans and became the New Orleans Hornets. In 2004, the NBA established the Charlotte Bobcats, which was regarded as a new expansion team at the time. In 2013, the New Orleans franchise announced it would rebrand itself the New Orleans Pelicans, ultimately returning the Hornets name, records, and official history to Charlotte.
